Director of Advanced Licensed Practitioners at Unity Health Care
Practicing Family Nurse Practitioner in Community Health
Barbara Dominguez is a family nurse practitioner with extensive experience working in underserved communities in Washington DC. Currently serving her second term as President of the Nurse Practitioner Association of DC, she is a passionate advocate for nurse practitioners in DC. At Unity Health Care, Ms. Dominguez has built a comprehensive career spanning multiple leadership roles. Beginning as a primary care provider, she has advanced to serve simultaneously as Director of Advanced Practice Practitioners, Site Medical Director, and Hypertension Quality Improvement Lead among other responsibilities. In addition to her clinical and administrative responsibilities, Ms. Dominguez serves as Graduate Placement Coordinator at the Catholic University of America, helping to bridge the gap between academic preparation and clinical practice. She began her career with a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin before relocating to the East Coast to pursue the biological sciences. She earned a bachelor’s degree in science with concentrations in plant biology and microbiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Drawn to direct patient care, Ms. Dominguez transitioned to nursing, working as a registered nurse in the surgical ICU at Washington Hospital Center after completing her BSN at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She subsequently earned her Master of Nursing degree from the Catholic University of America, completing her transformation into a skilled nurse practitioner dedicated to serving vulnerable populations.
