Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (APP) Inpatient Structural Heart New

The Structural Heart team is looking for a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (APP) to join their team! Monday - Friday (4 ten hour day shift). No weekends or call. This role is a hybrid role with 75% Inpatient and 25% Outpatient coverage.

Position Description

• APP will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care in the inpatient and outpatient clinical setting.
• This position is occupied by board certified acute care nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants specifically trained and proficient in providing cardiac services for structural heart patients under the direct supervision of Interventional Cardiologists and co manages patient with the Cardiovascular Surgery Service line. The provider in this position will function at the top of their license in the inpatient setting in collaboration with a supervising physician and other members of a multidisciplinary team. They will be responsible for inpatient consultations, patient examinations, medication management, and laboratory/radiologic testing and interpretation. The APP will see and treat patients who have undergone structural heart procedures. The APP, working alongside the MD, will be responsible for evaluating, stabilizing, and treating patients.

• The ISHV Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant program offers a full team of specialized heart failure providers and advanced heart failure services.

Minimum Requirements:

• Certification - Basic Life Support upon start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start
• Licensure - Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)
• Board Certification - Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Maintains necessary CME requirements.
• Education - Bachelor's in Nursing and Master's in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR a certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing. For Physician Assistants, a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
