Plan to come to NPADC's first all-day conference on Saturday October 14, 2017 on the topic of Opioid Use in DC: New Prescriber Tools for Prevention and Treatment. Opioids are all over the news, and prescribers have had a major role in creating and treating this problem.  NPs in DC have several new tools to help prevent and treat opioid abuse and overdose, including the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, the authority to prescribe buprenorphine and nalaxone, and to recommend medical marijuana.  Come learn about these new tools and how to use them in the context of a broad discussion about the scope of DC's opioid problem, behavioral health aspects of addiction, ways to improve the care of active drug users in clinical settings, and a range of alternative ways to approach and manage pain.  See the attached flyer for more details, mark your calendar, and watch for updates!
