AANP State Award Nominations Open

AANP State Awards

Every year nominations are made to nationally recognize two individuals who have contributed to Nurse Practitioners either by their clinical expertise or by their advocacy to NP practice in The District of Columbia. The nomination period is now open.

  1. The NP State Award for Excellence is given annually to an individual NP in each state who has demonstrated excellence in NP clinical practice.
  2. The Advocate State Award for Excellence is given annually to an individual in each state who has made a significant contribution toward increasing awareness and recognition of NPs.

Neither the nominating NP nor the NP recipient need be an AANP member. They do not need to live in the District however they do need to practice in the District. The recipient of the Clinical Excellence Award needs to be an NP; the Advocate Award recipient DOES NOT need to be an NP. Examples of previous Advocate winners include legislators, educators, and researchers.

Please consider nominating a colleague, peer or NP who has made a difference in your career or to our profession.

The nomination is simple, please follow this link:

Recognition will be made nationally at the AANP conference in Denver CO in June 2018 and locally at the NPADC meeting during NP Week in November.

***We would also like to recognize our outgoing Awardees: Guinevere Que, who received the NP Award for Excellence and Chioma Nwachukwu, recipient of the Advocate Award for Excellence.

***Current State AANP Representatives and Board members are not eligible for Award nomination during their term of office
