The AANP Health Policy Conference is March 8th – 10th, registration is still open and there are still a few seats remaining.  This is a dynamic, fun, policy focused conference that culminates with meeting our DC Representative on Tuesday.  https://www.aanp.org/events/2020-hpc

Nominations are open for the prestigious AANP National Leadership awards: Tower Pinnacle Award and the Sharp Cutting Edge Award.  Deadline for nominations is March 11, 2020. https://www.aanp.org/news-feed/aanp-national-leadership-awards-2020

Check your MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System) for CMS. You may be exempt or your status may have changed.  This is a simple tool to evaluate eligibility. https://qpp.cms.gov/participation-lookup/

CMS now covers ACUPUNCTURE for chronic low back pain (cLBP).  Brief synopsis:  The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will cover acupuncture for chronic low back pain under section 1862(a)(1)(A) of the Social Security Act.  Up to 12 visits in 90 days are covered for Medicare beneficiaries under the following circumstances: https://www.cms.gov/medicare-coverage-database/details/nca-decision-memo.aspx?NCAId=295

Local DC Information:

DC Statehood Vote – Congresswoman Norton bill H.R. 51 to make DC the 51st state passed markup yesterday and will move to the House. It is a historic vote and represents the first congressional vote since 1993.  Congresswoman Norton’s bill has 224 co-sponsors. https://www.dcvote.org/

Howard University Hospital (HUH) will offer a free course on the first 8 hours of SUD/MAT required for MAT certification March 7, 2020 from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.
