Internal Revenue Service Proposed Rule
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the U.S. Department of the Treasury proposed to include direct primary care arrangements in the definition of medical care. This would enable amounts paid for direct primary care arrangements to be deductible medical expenses. In this proposed rule, the IRS and Treasury Department solicited feedback on whether primary care arrangements between nurse practitioners (NPs) and their patients should be included in this definition. AANP has created a letter in the Advocacy Center for NPs to submit comments directly to the agencies before the comment close date of August 10, 2020. Please utilize this advocacy campaign to encourage the agencies to include NPs and their patients in the definition of primary care arrangement.
