This message is from Ginger Pierce at DC Health:
We are so excited to announce that the cycle for accepting new applications for the Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP) will open on April 1, 2021. Applicants must submit their completed applications by April 30, 2021.
As you may know, DC’s Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP) provides loan repayment up to $68,903.96 to eligible MD’s and DDS or DMD (general dentistry and general primary care providers) practicing in underserved areas of the District for at least two years. Other eligible providers can receive up to $37,896.22 for two years of service at an approved SOS. Eligible participants include licensed and certified physicians, dentists, dental hygienists, advanced practice nurses, clinical psychologists, clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors practicing at HPLRP-certified Service Obligation Sites (SOS). A certified SOS must be either a nonprofit or a public entity that provides primary care, mental health and/or dental services to District residents regardless of their ability to pay and is located in a federally-designated Health Professional Shortage or Medically Underserved Area within the District that corresponds to the services the entity provides. Applicants must be already employed or have a signed employment contract with a certified SOS at the time of application.
The program will be issuing approximately eight (8) two-year awards. Our legislation requires that we have 60% primary care, 20% mental health and 20% dental providers, thus we will recruit to maintain those rates.
Applicants can also visit our website for additional guidelines and application packages. For more information please see the attached bulletin or contact the loan repayment program directly at HPLRP@dc.gov.
We are requesting that you share this opportunity with your students or staff, as appropriate.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Geraldine (Ginger) Pierce
