Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP) application open until 1/31/23

Greetings:
We are so excited to announce that the cycle for accepting new applications for the Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP) will open on January 1, 2023. Applicants must submit their completed applications by January 31, 2023
DC’s Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP) provides loan repayment up to $72,617 to eligible MD’s and DDS or DMD (general dentistry and general primary care providers) practicing in underserved areas of the District for at least two years. Other eligible providers can receive up to $39,938 for two years’ of service at an approved SOS. Eligible participants include licensed and certified physicians, dentists, dental hygienists, advanced practice nurses, psychiatric nurse specialists, clinical psychologists, clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors practicing at HPLRP-certified Service Obligation Sites (SOS). A certified SOS must be either a nonprofit or a public entity that provides primary care, mental health and/or dental services to District residents regardless of their ability to pay and is located in a federally designated Health Professional Shortage or Medically Underserved Area within the District that corresponds to the services the entity provides. Applicants must be already employed or have a signed employment contract with a HPLRP certified SOS at the time of application.
The program will be issuing approximately eleven (11) two-year awards. We will offer opportunities for primary care, dental and mental health providers with an emphasis on mental health providers who service the District’s substance use disorder patients.

The anticipated contract start date for selected applicants is May 2023.
Applications should be submitted with all documents included in one email, if submitting electronically, except for the hard copy documents required (Form D and the lender documentation).
